wednesday what?

What a windy run! It's sunny and in the upper 50's so but the 37 mph wind gusts were a bit of a challenge. I wanted to get something done before my nearly all day flight (layover in Dallas) to Shreveport today so I went for a short 4. It took me until halfway through the 2nd mile to get everything working the way it should. I decided to pick up the pack on 2 and 3 for a mini tempo run. The faster miles felt pretty darn good! Now it is time to throw some clothes in a bag and head to the airport again.

My countdown to vacation is on like donkey kong. Only 5 days - wahoo! In my view vacation is a time to get away from it all by reading the books I don't have time to read on a lounge chair by the pool/ocean while sipping on a fruity drink. I really don't want to do anything. I've never considered exercise much in my vacation plans. I do explore and sign up for fun activities but rarely decide to go for a run. It's not like I'm not up early. For some reason on vacation I become an early bird but I like the spend the extra time in the morning having a leisurely breakfast and walking the beach. This vacation I really should be getting some form of running done. I know I'm not going to follow my schedule as it dictates and the 12 miler may not happen but I'm hoping it won't hurt me too much when I'm back home in full training mode.

Do you follow your running schedule when on vacation? Or do you skip it off all together? How do you motivate yourself to get the miles in when all you want to do is relax?

I'm wondering how windy it's going to be on my run tonight! They are saying gusts of 100kph! :S

Have a safe trip. ALMOST VACATION TIME!

I definitely don't follow my plan typically when on a beach vacation. A few runs on the beach and I'm happy!

It really depends on where I vacation whether I run or not. Both times I went to Florida in 2009 I ran almost every day because it was warm and I could be out in shorts and tank tops while it was freezing weather at home!

Have a safe and fun vacation!

I'm like you, I like my vacations to be relaxing. I try to fit in a couple runs because I like exploring new areas, but I'm not rigid about my training plan. A few skipped runs won't totally derail you!

I did one of my 20 milers in Hawaii while on vacation, so I definitely follow my schedule when I have to!

Although I just got back from a mini vacation and didn't do crap and it felt great. Enjoy your vacation, sounds like you need it!

I haven't been on vacation in forever, and I only began running two years ago, sooooo...LOL! When I do go out of town to visit family or friends, I definitely follow my training. I'll find a place to swim in advance, I take my bike with me, and Garmin and running shoes in tow! :)

I may not be able to get long runs in on vacation but I typically do a lot of running. It is one of my favorite parts - to run in new locales when I have the time.

I stick to my plan when on vacation and have done some of the training for all 6 of my marathons away from home. enjoy your vacay!

So far, I tend to follow my plan when on vacation...enjoying running in different cities/coutries and doing the runs at whatever time I want to. :) I still get tons of reading and relaxing in.

Have a great vacation Jamie!!!!

I never miss a run when on vacation. I stick to my schedule and love to run in new places. I enjoy the extra relaxing I can do after my early morning runs.

Isn't running relaxing? :) For some weird reason I have no problem getting in the workouts when I'm on vacation. You've got more time, everything is calm, no rushing, usually you're in gorgeous places that are fun to explore by foot... plus it's a good balance to the food & drinks. :) Have fun!

I've only been on a tropical vacation once, and I cannot imagine myself running during that one! However, all of my "vacations" now are really us just visiting family, so I like to use the runs to get some time to myself.

fun fun fun. SO exciting. You and I would be good vacationers together. i get up early so I can do nothing! i love it. I always plan to run. Usually the first one or two get done, but after that it's all blown off. And it never bothers me :) Have fun!!

i really don't have a prob running on vacation. i like to do it, but don't really follow anything rigorous--i just do what i can. (obv i can't run while sailing--so then i don't. but all other types of trips i love it!)
