But don't get me wrong I have had lack of exercise pains. I have had the urge to get up and go Then I think better of it. I ran/ walked 3 miles on Thursday. It hurt; I had abnormal pains in the knee and quads. I took it easy and I am okay with that. Mostly I when I think of running this week I fall back to sleep and think better of any sort of exercise. It... has... been... fantastic... but now I'm ready to go.
Hubbie is gone for the weekend. Indy 500 to see a bunch of half naked chicks fighting and lots of beer. Good times :) This weekend the only plans are to clean and well, workout... maybe. I'm ready to find the next race, the next thing to train for. I need something to do. Anything to take my mind off of a job I dislike greatly and have to return to sooner than I'd like. My friend sent my a new 12 week training plan that she used to Boston qualify (not that it is my goal at this time - just break 4 hours). I went to Barnes and Noble bought a few running related books, one of which may or may not be Advanced Marathoning. I have been endlessly researching summer and fall races. I am signed up for Chicago in October since February which I swore mid race Cleveland I would not run. Now I'm thinking of the Peoria Steamboat 15K over Father's day weekend, maybe a 1/2 in 4? No, that's crazy talk. Anyone have a great race in the next 5 weeks I can travel to? I love to travel!
Do you have a suggestion - a great summer race (15K to half marathon), your fav training plan, anything. Let me know!

Glad you are enjoying your recovery. I like to take at least a week or gorging and laziness. Hey, we earned it!
Good luck with your race plans and enjoy the reading.
You've definitely earned the rest and recovery! Have a great weekend sans hubby! :D
I wish I had a good race to recommend! I just have small 5K's planned for the summer, along with marathon training. Do you look at cararuns.org for races?
Your week off sounds AWESOME! I loved eating so much food after my half, but I ate WAY too much. And I got really really anxious to start running. I wish I could be more relaxed about it like you!
I enjoyed reading your blog, sour patch kids and popcorn??? I'll have to try it now!
I picked up a copy of advanced marathoning a while ago, I plan on using the 18 week 55 mile schedule.
Breaking four is my goal, too.
I'm so glad you're soaking up the post-marathon recovery, you're so deserving.
I got most of my Q&A info from Advanced Marathoning so I agree that it's a great book to pick up.
I LOL'd when you swore mid-marathon that you'd never do this again because I did the same exact thing. I distinctly remember thinking in the middle of Boston that after I cross the finish line, the first thing I'm doing is throwing away all my running shoes...HAHA!
I have been on the search for the 'perfect' marathon traiing plan too. I though about Advanced marathoning, but it looks a little to advanced for me. maybe after one more....
I think I decided on using one from JoyNRun and tweak it ever so slightly.
Good luck with your race decisions. I can't wait to hear what you decided
Sour Patch Kids...the back of my jaws were tingling just reading it!
I love the fact that you support your husband in his "half naked chicks" venture under the guise of the Indy 500. You're so cool.
I also just ordered Advanced Marathoning and I'm excited to read it. We should comparet notes. Or, just post about what we read and leave each other comments. ;)
You should come to CO! I have summers off and we'd have a grand time. What distance are you looking for?
I have no good races. Other than I'm toying with the idea of running the Omaha half marathon before Chicago, maybe you should come out for that? Tickets on Southwest are cheap!
And, I personally love popcorn and chocolate, like M&Ms. Mmmm.
Oh, and for training plans, I might just use the generic nike "so you're running chicago, here's a training plan" training plan. Bad idea? Good idea? I was hoping one of your commenters had the perfect mararthon plan to offer you cause I was going to totally steal it and use it for myself. Oh well.
My dad and I are running the Racine Wisconsin Lighthouse run(10 miles) on June 20th. I've heard really good things about that one. It's the only race I have between now and August...
Enjoy your recovery week. I took most of the past week off after a 10 miler, two halfs and a 5K all in less than a month. I did one really slow three mile run with very heavy legs. I think I'll get back on track tomorrow...
I'm doing a 20k in Des Monines next weekend, but having been to Des Moines, it's not exactly a vacay destination. :o)
Good luck finding a fun race!
Theres the boilermaker in 7 weeks? Its in july and its in Utica NY! Its super fun and there are lots of spectators and runners!
4.22.21???
That is a freaking awesome marathon finishing time!! WOW!!! I am in awe of that time! Something I strive for but may never do!!
Nice to meet you by the way!! I am glad your enjoying your time off.
Happy Memorial Day to you!!!
Me again - I'd like to put you on my blog roll - is that cool??

I really think you have to take some time off after a marathon, to just chill.
Sounds like you are ready to start training again. You'll be able to break 4 hours, no problem.
its super soon, but are you running the chicago 13.1 on june 7? should be a fun one.
whats the training plan your friend sent you?
"I relish in the lack of activity and gorging of food."Amen, sista, amen!
Heehee... come out to Cali! There are a bunch of bloggers doing the SF marathon or half. I'll probably do the 5K.
Hi Jamie
You certainly deserve a break after doing such a great job in Cleveland. I have always had to make myself take a break after a race as I can't wait to do another. That is of course until like 8 miles into the next race when I feel like crap. Kind of like Bayshore.
I actually have a copy of Advanced Marathoning and they are a little intense. Still like it though.
Take it easy and enjoy the recovery.
is the 12 week schedule from advanced marathoning???? :)
glad you are enjoying recovery but also looking to what's next. i know thats helped me get passed my race i wasnt thrilled about.
want to come to cali?!? san francisco marathon (and half marathon) are at the end of july! will be a bunch of us running the half and would be funnn :)
