Sunday Recap

Instead of writing my 3 reports that are already 2 days late and completing 2 expense reports (you really think I would would want to be reimbursed however today I just can't be bothered) I am going to write a short blog. Priorities I tell ya. So yesterday I got a run in!!! Yea!!! And 6 whole wonderful, glorious, albeit sometimes water logged miles. We had a taste of spring. And yes I consider 42 degrees the start of spring. I was slower than usual but not so bad for not running in ohhhh 3 weeks. And pretty impressive I could still throw down 6. Here are the mile break down.

lap 1: 9:18
lap 2: 9:35
lap 3: 9:45
lap4: 9:39
lap5: 9:31
lap 6: 9:33

It felt great and the whole way I kept, well, trying to not fall on my a** or get soaked from the ice that had melted into small rivers on the path. That and wishing I could have the running laminator's times even with a broken clavicle. Even though I haven't been running I have been more focused on strength workouts and cross training. But I am looking forward to getting out there more and improving those numbers.

I have decided to pass on Chicago Marathon this year and am kind of torn up about it. Next year. With all the crap that is quickly happening every single weekend out of town I just think it is going to be too much. But I want YOUR recommendations for November or early December marathons. I think that will give me enough time to train around this wedding thing I have going on this year. I may decide to only do the 13.1 several times this year instead we will see. (If you haven't figured it out it takes me awhile to make up my mind about everything)

Awesome job Jamie!! ;D ;D Definitely not too shabby for being away for 3 weeks :-)

Could I interest you in the NYC Marathon lottery? Come on . . . all the cool kids are doing it :P

Jamie, we'll miss you in Chicago, but we support your decision.

I'd recommend two marathons that I know are very well organized--Vegas and Richmond. I haven't run either, but my friends have and really endorse them.

Vegas starts in the desert and has the potential for blasts of sandy winds.

Anyway, so glad you're going to keep with the running and hope all the planning comes together.

Hi Jamie

I'll bet that 6 felt great. I know for you right now there are just some more important things going on. But it won't always be that way...

I did Richmond this year and it was a very cool marathon. Well organized and a pretty cool, scenic course. The city itself was pretty eclectic and interesting, but we left immediately after the race and spent a couple days in D.C.. I had never been there before and it was on the way back to Michigan.. we actually drove on this one! I've done Vegas also and it was just OK. It started at Mandelay Bay and went down the strip, but was poorly organized and I probably would not do it again.

Best of luck.

Oh to run outside again, some day I will, someday!

Let's see good December marathons.. I heard Disney was pretty freaking awesome so I am considering that myself.

Jamie...please, please, please don't compare your times with mine...I've not regained the energy to face my tormentors at the park yet, and we play in different leagues. You're doing awesome from being away 3 weeks.

As for the marathon...I'd chose NYC, but I'm biased, not only because I live here, but I B.Q.'d here too. But I hear it's a great marathon none-the-less and you have to run here at least once in your life.
